NEW DELHI: A thick blanket of fog has enveloped Delhi-NCR, creating a surreal, hill station-like atmosphere that has taken social media by storm.
Viral videos circulating online show the region obscured by a dense fog, evoking ‘heavenly’ vibes.
Over the past few days, the region has experienced a sharp drop in temperatures, accompanied by dangerously low visibility.
On Friday morning, the fog reached its peak, with visibility at IGI Airport dropping to zero for nearly an hour and a half.
This was part of the ongoing “cold day” conditions, which had gripped the region for four days, although signs of improvement were observed as the day progressed.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for more very dense fog on Saturday.
The fog severely impacted air travel, with over 350 flights delayed on Friday, according to FlightRadar24.
Social media platforms were abuzz with reactions and videos of the thick fog. One Instagram user posted a clip with the caption, “It’s not Himachal, it’s Noida.”
“Next hill station is Noida,” added another person.
The comments on the post reflected a blend of humor and awe. One user joked, “Sending video directly from Yamraj’s house saying Noida… He is thinking me crazy,” while another wrote, “Swarg lok mai hai aap” (You are in heaven).
While the dense fog and colder temperatures present significant challenges, they have also added a unique charm to winter in the capital, sparking much discussion online.
