The 42-year-old ISIS operative who killed 14 people in New Orleans on New Year’s Day lived in a shabby trailer with cheap furniture and rusted workout equipment, the New York Post reported revealing the first photos from the dilapidated home in a predominantly Muslim neighborhood. The home was left in shambles and there was also a handgun on the kitchen table. Neighbors told that Shamsud Din Jabbar left his house hours before the rampage and told them that he was moving to New Orleans for a better job.
A neighbor told Post that he offered to help Jabar move his things, but he said that he was moving to a furnished apartment in New Orleans and would not need anything from his old home. Muntaz Bashir, the neighbor said, saw the pickup truck used in the carnage but thought it was meant for his shifting.
Jabbar once said he was struggling outside the military world
Shamsud Din Jabbar was in the Army from 2007 to 2015 and after that, he continued serving as an IT specialist until July 2020. He left the Army as a staff sergeant and received an honorable discharge.
In an interview from his day at Georgia State University, Jabbar told the school’s paper that he was struggling to acclimate to civilian life after serving in the Army. He said he found it difficult to speak without using the Army acronyms.
After his time in the Army, Jabbar worked for Ernst & Young and Deloitte and was climbing the corporate ladder.

December 30: Jabbar rented the Ford F-150 he used to mow down dozens of celebrants in New Orleans.
December 31: Jabbar tells his neighbors he will be moving to New Orleans to look for better work.
1.29 am to 3.02 am, January 1: Jabbar drives from Houston to New Orleans recording five videos. In those videos, he claimed ISIS affiliation and announced that his original plan was to harm his family and friends but was concerned that the new headlines would not focus on the war between the believers and disbelievers.
At some point between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Jabbar was spotted on surveillance video placing IEDs on the intersection of Bourbon Street and New Orleans Street.
Then he reached New Orleans and rammed into the crowd before engaging in a gunfight with the law enforcement officials in which he was killed.
