The Golden State Warriors need to make immediate trades if they want any chance at doing some damage in the playoffs this season. The team needs an entire overhaul and there is a trade that could make this happen. But, that would involve sending their $100 million star and veteran champion Draymond Green to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Draymond Green to LA Is a Win-Win for both the Warriors and the Lakers
Peter O’Keefe suggests that a trade sending Draymond Green, Kyle Anderson, and Buddy Hield to the Lakers could help the Warriors land Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, Christian Wood, one 2029 first-round pick, and two 2025 second-round picks. Hachimura and Vincent are solid rotation pieces, while Vanderbilt and Wood will give the Warriors some much-needed veteran leadership. Furthermore, a first round-pick and two second-round picks will be perfect for helping Golden State add more depth to the roster.
Meanwhile, the Lakers will gain a brilliant and gritty leader in Draymond Green. Furthermore, Anderson and Hield are more than capable of providing a scoring punch off the bench. From the looks of it, all three players would mesh really well with JJ Redick’s gritty style of basketball. Having Green would also take a lot of pressure off the shoulders of LeBron James.
Green is an adequate playmaker and an excellent defender. Having him on the floor will leave James free to contribute more through scoring. The 6’6 forward was a key piece of the Warriors’ dynasty, but those days are long gone. Klay Thompson is now with the Mavericks and from the looks of it, the Warriors might have to let go of Draymond Green if they wish to save their season.
It is also worth noting that moving Draymond Green will also help the Warriors free up space on their salary cap. The Warriors’ front office doesn’t seem to be in the mood to jump the gun, but a potential trade surrounding Green is worth considering. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the four-time NBA Champion being linked to even more teams as the February 6th deadline gets closer.

We might never get to see Stephen Curry and LeBron James link up, but a Green-James partnership might be in the books. The Warriors inquired about acquiring LeBron James in a potential trade last summer so it is clear that they’re open to doing business with the Lakers. It’ll be interesting to see whether the Warriors will make more trades over the coming weeks.
