MUMBAI: A fire broke out on the terrace of Phoenix Mall on LBS Road, Kurla (W), late Thursday night. The incident was reported to the Mumbai Fire Brigade at 9.45 pm.
At least four fire engines and other fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes.
“A level one fire was reported on the rooftop of Phoenix Mall on LBS Road opposite Kurla Fire Station,” the Mumbai fire brigade stated.
Firefighters tried to contain the blaze, ensuring it did not spread to other parts of the mall. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire was not yet known.
Shoe store gutted in Thane mall fire
In a separate incident, a mysterious fire engulfed a shoe store located on the first floor of Hypercity Mall along Ghodbunder Road in Thane on January 28, 2025, in the morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the fire broke out before the mall had opened for the day.
According to an initial probe, a large stock of shoes kept inside the store was destroyed in the blaze, which reportedly started around 7 am and began spreading quickly. Local residents and passersby spotted dense smoke emerging from one of the outlets and promptly alerted rescue teams.
The teams rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations. “The teams managed to contain the blaze to the store that suffered extensive damage to the contents stocked inside. The cause of the blaze will be investigated,” said Yasin Tadvi, in charge at the Thane RDMC.
