MP man kills 28 pet pigeons in retaliation for personal feud

BHOPAL: A man has been accused of killing 28 pet pigeons belonging to his neighbor by twisting their necks, allegedly due to personal enmity, in Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at Kajal Roy’s residence in Scindia Nagar. Kajal, who keeps over 50 pigeons, was alarmed by the distressing cries of her birds. Upon rushing to the roof, she saw her neighbor, Mohit Khan, and another individual fleeing the scene. On inspecting the pigeons, she discovered 28 of them dead in their cage, their necks twisted.
Kajal reported the incident to the police, claiming the act was motivated by a personal dispute with her neighbor. She alleged that their ongoing daily disagreements led Mohit to take revenge by killing her pigeons.
Police arrived at the scene promptly and informed the Forest Department. A veterinary examination was conducted on the pigeons, after which their bodies were returned to Kajal. The police have registered a case under the Animal Cruelty Act against Mohit Khan and an unidentified individual. Investigations are underway to locate the accused.
Police confirmed the pigeons had been killed by having their necks twisted. “The pigeon breeder witnessed her neighbor fleeing from the roof. Following the medical examination of the birds, the bodies were buried. A case has been registered under the Animal Cruelty Act, and efforts are ongoing to find the accused,” said a police officer.
