Meghan Markle returns to Instagram after 5 years, posts first video

British Royal Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has launched her first Instagram account since 2020. @meghan is her official account. Her first post is a video of herself at the beach, drawing “2025” in the sand. The account has already gained over 500,000 followers.

Meghan and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, were married in 2018 and initially shared the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account with Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. In 2019, Meghan and Harry started their own account, @SussexRoyal, as they moved away from the royal family. The account was shut down in 2020 when they stepped back from their royal duties.
Meghan, who previously had a popular Instagram account during her acting career on Suits, had suggested she might return. In a 2022 interview with The Cut, she said: “Do you want to know a secret? I’m getting back … on Instagram.”
However, Meghan has also expressed hesitation about using Instagram due to concerns about harassment. In 2023, she and Harry called on social media platforms to improve content moderation, stating that some apps could harm young people’s mental health.
