KALYAN: A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife’s suspected rapist in Badlapur. The man invited the alleged accused for a party at his home and attacked him to death with a hammer.
According to the police, when the deceased allegedly raped the woman, he threatened her to not tell her husband. However, the woman gathered courage and told her husband about the alleged assault.
The accused husband, Suraj (name changed to protect identity), a resident of Shirgaon worked as a helper in a private company. Police said Suraj and the deceased, Nagesh (name changed to protect identity), 29, were good friends and they lived in the same locality. Police learnt that when the accused’s wife was alone at home, Nagesh went to their house and sexually assaulted her he later threatened to kill her if she informed her husband. Kiran Balwadkar, senior police inspector of Badlapur east police station, said, “According to the plan, Suraj invited Nagesh on Jan 10. After drinking alcohol, Nagesh stayed at Suraj’s house which is when the accused hit him on the head repeatedly with the hammer.”
The next morning Suraj informed the police that Nagesh had died after falling the bathroom. However, the post-mortem report revealed that Nagesh had been bludgeoned to death. Following the report, the police interrogated Suraj who later confessed to the crime.
