Sambhajinagar : Maharashtra CID has filed a chargesheet against former Parli council chief Valmik Karad and his aides in three cases — murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh on Dec 9, 2024; attempt to extort Rs 2 crore from arenewable energy firm; and assault on the firm’s staffers. Karad is a close aide of NCP minister Dhananjay Munde.
CID concluded that Desh- mukh’s murder was the result of a bigger conspiracy by Karad, who wanted “to create a reign of terror” and eliminate whosoever came in way of his Rs 2 crore extortion attempt.
Besides Karad, chargesheets were filed Feb 27 before a MCOCA court against Vishnu Chate, Sudarshan Ghule, Pratik Ghule, Sudhir Sangle, Mahesh Kedar, Jairam Chate and Krishna Andhale.
