Lewis Hamilton is back in form with his new chapter at Ferrari. Now, his brother Nicolas Hamilton is making a comeback to the British Touring Car Championship after a 20-month break. Nicolas, who has cerebral palsy, revealed in his latest Instagram post that he went into a “very difficult place mentally” during this time.

Nicolas Hamilton is back on the grid

Nicolas Hamilton shared the news with his fans on Thursday. Posting a picture with his car, he opened up about the past year and a half. He wrote, “Back in the BTCC for 2025. After having to walk away from the championship following my historic P6 result back in 2023, I went into a very difficult place mentally, where any thoughts of racing and getting back on the grid again seemed unachievable.
“But after a late opportunity from @ulmofficial in December 2024, I picked myself up and worked hard in therapy to get myself back to a healthier place mentally and set my sights on raising the sponsorship to get back on the grid. After 20 months away, I am so proud to say that I am BACK!”
The post continued, “2025 is a new chapter, but my mission remains unchanged: bringing disability to the forefront of my motorsport. It is not about hiding from your condition, difficulties, or struggles—it is about embracing them with pride and living to the edges of your own personal limits and abilities.”

This year, the 33-year-old will drive a Cupra Leon for Un-Limited Motorsports, alongside teammates Dexter Patterson and Max Hall. Confirming this, he said in a statement as per Crash.net, “There is a place in motorsport for disabled people to feel valued and accepted in multiple roles within the sport, and I want to open people’s eyes to that.”
“I want to continue to prove that motorsport is for everyone and that racing can be a platform for opportunity and inclusivity. Un-Limited Motorsport and my partners believe in what I stand for, my talent, and my purpose. If I can be accepted, then so can others with a disability,” he added.
Un-Limited Motorsport team owner Bob Sharpless expressed his happiness about teaming up with Hamilton and fielding three cars in the championship. He said in a statement, “It’s fantastic to have Nic Hamilton join Un-Limited Motorsport. He’s hugely determined to get back on the BTCC grid, and I’m proud that we could make it happen.”
Calling him an inspiration, Sharpless added, “Nic is not just an incredibly well-known driver – he’s an inspiration worldwide. The fact that he’s put his trust in our team speaks volumes about how far we’ve come in such a short time. We’re excited to support him on this journey and can’t wait to see what we achieve together.”
