NEW DELHI: A woman and her lover, accused of murdering her ex-merchant navy officer husband in Meerut, were assaulted by a group of lawyers while being escorted for a court hearing. The chief judicial magistrate’s court has remanded them to 14 days of judicial custody.
This development follows revelations by the police that Muskan (27) and Sahil (25) allegedly stabbed her husband, dismembered his body, and concealed the remains in a drum filled with cement.
As officers led the accused out of the courtroom on Wednesday, a crowd of lawyers attempted to attack them, with some grabbing Sahil’s clothes. The police had to push through the crowd to shield the duo and escort them safely.
Gruesome Murder Plot
The victim, Saurabh Rajput (29), a resident of Brahmpuri’s Indra Nagar Phase 2, was reported missing on March 4, leading to a police investigation. On Tuesday, Muskan and Sahil were taken into custody, where they allegedly confessed to the murder.
SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated that Rajput’s brother had filed a complaint suspecting foul play, accusing Muskan and Sahil of having an extramarital affair.
Investigations revealed that Rajput, who worked in a London bakery and visited home periodically, was killed shortly after his return on February 24. According to police, Muskan and Sahil had been in a relationship since 2019 and plotted the murder together.
On March 4, Muskan allegedly spiked Rajput’s food, rendering him unconscious. Sahil then arrived, and the duo fatally stabbed him. They dismembered the body in the bathroom using a razor and knife. The next day, they purchased a blue plastic drum, cement, and sand, stuffing the remains inside before filling it with the cement mixture. Following the crime, they went on a trip to Shimla, returning on March 17.
Authorities revealed that Muskan had bought the sedatives and murder weapons in advance. Their initial plan was to fit the body into a bag, but when that failed, they opted to store it in a drum. Before executing their plan, they had sent Muskan’s six-year-old daughter to her grandmother’s house.
Police recovered the victim’s body parts and the murder weapons from the couple’s residence.
Muskan and Saurabh, who had been married since 2016, shared a daughter. Meanwhile, Muskan and Sahil, childhood acquaintances, had rekindled their connection through a WhatsApp group in 2019.
