Kunal kamra has criticized Bollywood studio T-Series for flagging his latest stand-up special Naya Bharat for copyright violations on YouTube. The special has sparked controversy over jokes about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. T-Series issued a copyright infringement notice over the use of song ‘Bholi Si Surat Aankhon Masti’ from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’. In a post on X, the comedian wrote “Hello @TSeries, stop being a stooge”, adding “Parody & Satire comes under fair use Legally. I haven’t used the lyrics or the original instrumental of the song.”
“If you take this video down every cover song/dance video can be taken down. Creators please take a note of it. Having said that every monopoly in India is nothing short of Mafia so please watch/download this special before it’s taken down. FYI – T- Series I stay in Tamil Nadu,” he wrote.
Kamra also shared a YouTube screenshot showing that his new video,
Naya Bharat
, has been blocked due to copyright restrictions, making it inaccessible to viewers. Additionally, the video will not generate any revenue due to the copyright claims.
T-Series’ response to Kunal Kamra
As per a PTI report, a spokesperson of T-Series said in a statement, “Mr Kunal Kamra has not taken any authorisation or approval for the usage of the underlying musical work in the song hence the content has been blocked for infringement of composition rights.”
Kumal Kamra takes a jab at Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal
During his special, Kamra reignited his feud with Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal. Responding to an audience member’s question about Ola scooters catching fire, Kamra quipped, “Indian businessmen don’t even admit when they’re wrong. Take the Ola guy, for example. What did I say that made him so angry? It’s simple—you manufacture two-wheelers, and neither of the wheels works. And yet, he tells me, ‘Come work with us, let’s build India together.'”
Kamra went on to criticise Aggarwal’s focus on launching new scooter colours instead of addressing technical issues. “Maybe a different shade will fix the problem,” he joked, adding that Aggarwal should prioritise refunds for customers over offering him money.
