DEHRADUN: A fast-track court of additional district judge in Dehradun has sentenced a 32-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in Nov 2022.
Police said the convict, Ankit Joshi, raped the daughter of his friend from Himachal Pradesh who came to Uttarakhand for his wife’s surgery. The girl’s statement of how her “uncle” violated her had played a crucial role in the case, police said, adding the survivor also informed court that upon finding out the next morning, her father confronted his friend.
The court took note of medical report that stated presence of “abrasions on her private parts, indicating physical abuse”. It imposed a penalty of Rs 1.1 lakh on convict & ordered a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to be paid to survivor from the amount.
