KOCHI: Chottanikkara police, investigating the discovery of a human skull and skeletal parts from a broken fridge in an abandoned house, said that based on the markings found on them, they were intended for academic purposes. Police said that the bones could have been in use for years, and the exact age needs to be verified through forensic analysis.
The bones were found in a house located on a 14-acre plot at Palace Square in Eruveli East, Chottanikkara, on Monday evening. The house was not in use for the past 20 years.
Police said that the skull and skeletal parts were examined by forensic experts. According to the police, the initial assessment was that the bones are from multiple females.
An investigation is also underway into how the bones ended up at the house. The statement of the owner of the house, a doctor, his family members, and those in the neighbourhood was being recorded, said the police.
The discovery was made after the police inspected the house based on a complaint by local body member Indira Dharmarajan about suspected anti-social activities in the abandoned house.
Chottanikkara police registered a case for unnatural death under the BNS after the discovery.
