'Just a trailer': Karni Sena on vandalising Samajwadi MP's house over Rana Sanga remark

NEW DELHI: Karni Sena leader Mahipal Makrana on Wednesday warned that the recent vandalism at Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman’s house in Agra was “just a trailer,” as outrage over Suman’s remarks on Rajput warrior Rana Sanga continues to grow.
“Today, a small protest was staged outside Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman’s house by Karni Sena members. During the protest, some chairs were broken, but nothing big happened. This is just a trailer. We should have given them a strong answer way earlier. We are very tolerant, but if people like him say offensive things about our great leaders like Rana Sanga… I want to warn all that if any of our members are hurt and mistreated, we will stage a much bigger protest across the country,” Makrana said.

The attack on Suman’s residence saw stone pelting that shattered window panes and damaged vehicles outside the house. The incident follows a controversial video in which Suman allegedly referred to Rana Sanga as a “traitor” for his role in bringing Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi. The remarks have triggered widespread backlash from Rajput groups and political figures, escalating into protests across multiple states.

Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav condemned the attack, saying, “If we see the situation in Uttar Pradesh, where bombs are exploding on the roads, where women are not safe, it is the responsibility of the government. If such incidents are happening, then it is very unfortunate. What message do you want to give to the young generation? The government should take strict action against this… somewhere this is an act done by the government.”
The controversy surrounding Suman’s comments has led to legal action as well. Advocate Ajay Pratap Singh, president of the Arya Sanskriti Conservation Trust, has filed a civil suit against Suman and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Singh argued, “For the last few days, we have been hearing reports in the media about Ramji Lal Suman calling Rana Sanga a traitor. He is spreading a false narrative.”
Protests have erupted across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, with Rajput groups demanding action against Suman. In Bhopal, Rajput Mahapanchayat activists burned effigies of Akhilesh Yadav and Suman outside the Samajwadi Party office. Heated exchanges took place between Mahapanchayat and SP activists, with police intervening to prevent clashes. National general secretary Abhay Parmar said, “We also put up a poster about battles won by Rana Sanga and his valour.”
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party national spokesperson Yash Bharatiya accused the BJP government of shielding the protesters. “We had submitted a memorandum to the Bhopal police commissioner on Monday. It seems demonstrators are protected by the government,” he said.
