JAMMU: Dismissing rumours of any rift with the National Conference (NC), the Jammu & Kashmir Congress president, Tariq Hameed Karra, on Thursday said his party is very much part of the Omar Abdullah-led govt in the Union territory and expected the formation of a coordination committee comprising members of Congress and NC soon.
“We are a part of the govt. We can give advice to the it. We can raise issues of people and if you want that the issues should not be discussed, then it will not be fair to the people,” Karra told reporters in Kishtwar while dismissing rumours about rift in the NC-Cong pre-poll alliance.
Congress has been on a 15-day campaign in Jammu in support of its demand for immediate restoration of statehood to the Union territory, since February 13. “Even the Supreme Court has issued guidelines over the restoration of statehood at the earliest,” Karra said.
