JioHotstar, a joint venture between Reliance and Disney, is now official. The new streaming powerhouse offers the content libraries of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, creating a strong competitor to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
JioHotstar, a revamped version of Disney+ Hotstar, brings together sports, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket, International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments, and English Premier League football, all under one platform. The service will also feature content from major international studios such as Disney, Warner Bros., HBO, NBCUniversal Peacock, and Paramount.

JioHotstar subscription plans begin at Rs 149 for three months with ads, while an ad-free premium tier is available for Rs 499. Existing JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar subscribers will automatically transition to JioHotstar once their current subscriptions expire. The JioCinema app will be discontinued.

What happens to JioCinema premium subscribers
JioStar CEO of Entertainment, Kevin Vaz, outlined the transition plans for existing subscribers of JioCinema Premium and Disney+ Hotstar to the new JioHotstar platform.
JioCinema Premium subscribers will be automatically upgraded to JioHotstar Premium for the remainder of their current subscription period. Afterward, they will need to purchase new JioHotstar plans.
Disney+ Hotstar subscribers can maintain their current plans at the existing rates for three months. Vaz assured users that the transition to JioHotstar will be seamless, with no changes to their current service during this initial period.
