NEW DELHI: The last few minutes at the end of Day 1 of the fifth Test in Sydney saw high drama as India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and Australia teenager Sam Konstas were involved in a fiery verbal exchange.
The drama was soon followed by the dismissal of Usman Khawaja on the last ball of the day with Bumrah following it up with a stare to Konstas at the non-striker’s end.
The heated final minutes drew everyone to the edge of their seats with Bumrah winning the psychological warfare with Kontas, dismissing his partner.
The fans too rallied behind Bumrah as soon as he got the better of Kontas on the field in the final moments.
Hailing the India captain for walking the talk, the social media blew up with memes, lauding Bumrah’s heroics.
On the opening day of the final Test, India folded for 185 after opting to bat.
The visitors then had Australia at 9 for one before the umpires called it a day.
For India, Rishabh Pant (40) was the top scorer on a challenging green strip while Scott Boland registered figures of 4 for 31.
India currently trail the 5-Test series 1-2.
