KALYAN: A 27-year-old man who gave shelter to a 13-year-old cancer-stricken girl and her parents in his house allegedly raped her, making her pregnant.
The incident came to light when the girl visited a hospital in Mumbai with her parents for cancer treatment. During the chemo test, the doctors found that the girl was pregnant for one-and-a-half months.
On the complaint of the girl’s parents, the local Badlapur East police registered a case and arrested the accused under Pocso and other sections of the BNS Act.
According to the police, the victim girl hails from Bihar, and her parents came to Mumbai two months ago to get the girl treated for her cancer disease.
Till the girl’s family could arrange a rented room to live in, the accused, who is known to the victim’s family, allowed them to stay with him.
The accused works as helper at road contractor’s site. The police found that during this time, when the victim was alone in the house, the accused took advantage of it and forcibly had physical relations with her.
