IB officer found dead on rail tracks in Kerala; police probe ordered

Thiruvananthapuram: The suspicious death of a 24-year-old Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer, M Megha, in Thiruvananthapuram has prompted her family to file a complaint with IB and Kerala Police, seeking an investigation.
Megha’s body was found on the railway track at Chackai on Monday. While her family says she had no reason to be near the railway tracks, police suspect it was a suicide triggered by a break-up with a colleague she was in a relationship with. A thorough police investigation has been ordered.
According to some reports, Megha, who worked with the immigration wing of Thiruvananthapuram airport, was on her way back home after her night duty when she died.
She was hit by Jayanthi Janata Express on Monday morning. According to police, the loco pilot of the train saw her walking along the side of the track, talking on the phone. She suddenly jumped before the train when it reached near her.
Megha’s father, Madhusoodhnan, said she was in a relationship with her colleague since their training period. She had been working with IB for only 13 months. There was no need for her to go near the railway track, he maintained, and demanded a thorough investigation into whom she last spoke to.
Police believe emotional distress could have led Megha to end her life as the colleague she was reportedly close to had allegedly withdrawn from the relationship. Her mobile phone, which got damaged in the accident, will be sent for forensic analysis.
