NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday dismissed the BJP’s claims that he would contest the upcoming Delhi assembly elections from two constituencies — New Delhi and another “safe” seat.
“I will only contest from one seat,” Kejriwal clarified during a press conference in response to a media question.
As Delhi prepares for the upcoming assembly elections, BJP leader Parvesh Verma criticised Kejriwal, claiming he was “nervous” because he knows the BJP is set to win in the national capital.
Verma, BJP’s candidate from New Delhi, stated, “Other parties in the INDI alliance have no presence in Delhi, and Kejriwal is worried because he’s losing support. That’s why he’s turning to these parties for help. The BJP will definitely form the government here.”
This comment came after Kejriwal’s announcement on Wednesday that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had pledged its support to AAP ahead of the February 5 elections.
Verma further dismissed the INDIA alliance, saying it no longer exists, citing the post-Maharashtra election blame game between alliance members.
“The INDIA alliance is falling apart. After their defeat in Maharashtra, the partners started accusing each other. The remaining members are corrupt—individuals Kejriwal once criticized. Delhi sees through his attempts to ally with those he once opposed,” Verma added.
