Amazon will soon launch its quick commerce service, Tez in India. The e-commerce giant has already begun testing its quick commerce pilot with staff in Bengaluru. Now, an Economic Times report says that Amazon’s largest seller Cocoblu Retail has created a new entity called Cocoblu Quick Commerce to focus on fast deliveries. The report says that the recent filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) reveal that its parent company, Rattan India, has renamed an existing entity and shifted its focus from wholesale to retail to emphasize quick commerce.
According to the report, Cocoblu Retail, a key partner for Amazon, is expected to play a pivotal role in scaling Tez, leveraging its existing relationship and significant sales volumes on the platform. “Working with Cocoblu, which already works closely with Amazon and moves a significant portion of its volumes, would give a much-needed support to the quick commerce ambitions of the US etailer here,” it said.
Amazon’s Tez to offer grocery and essentials initially
Amazon’s quick commerce entry comes at a time when competitors like Flipkart Minutes, BigBasket, Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart are already expanding their market share. The Tez service is likely to start with limited grocery and essentials, potentially including products from consumer brands sold through Cocoblu Retail.
Cocoblu Retail’s parent Rattan India also manages consumer brands that sell on Amazon through Cocoblu Retail. These brands may soon be part of Amazon’s quick delivery service, which is expected to launch with a limited range of products, focusing on groceries and essentials.
Apart from Cocoblu Retail, other top sellers on Amazon India include Clicktech Retail, RK World Infocom, RetailEZ, and EtradeOnline. Notably, Clicktech acquired Appario Retail as part of Amazon’s strategy to divest its stakes in key sellers on its platform.
