How a masked intruder breached IAF campus and killed senior engineer in UP

PRAYAGRAJ: In an incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday inside the North Camp of Central Air Command (CAC), Bamrauli, of the Indian Air Force (IAF), a senior engineer posted as Command Work Engineer (CWE)—which functions under the Military Engineering Services (MES)—was shot by an unidentified assailant while he was sleeping inside his official residence within the CAC premises.
According to DCP Abhishek Bharti, “The deceased, identified as SN Mishra (aged around 50), a native of Rohtas district in Bihar, was shot by an unidentified assailant who scaled the walls of the CAC campus around 3 am, reached the deceased’s residence, and fired at him through the window. Mishra was rushed to the military hospital at New Cantonment, where he succumbed to his injuries.”
Mishra is survived by his wife and three children, one of whom was staying with him at the official residence.
Although the defence services’ public relations office has remained tight-lipped on the incident, DCP Bharti further stated, “We are probing the case as we have spotted the masked assailant on CCTV footage—both from the IAF cameras and the one installed at Mishra’s residence. We have received a complaint and will soon register an FIR. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for post-mortem.”
Upon receiving the news, senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Tarun Gauba, reached the spot and launched an investigation. “We have collected forensic evidence, commenced the probe, and will crack the case soon to arrest the culprit,” he said.
