How a calculation 'error' led Maharashtra govt to refund Rs 9 crore to Shah Rukh Khan

NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra government is set to refund Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan Rs 9 crore, an amount he overpaid while converting the lease of his iconic sea-facing bungalow, ‘Mannat,’ into full ownership.
According to suburban collector Satish Bagal, the conversion to ‘class 1 complete ownership’ took place in 2019, with Shah Rukh and his wife Gauri Khan paying a premium to the government for the process.
However, a tabulation error in the premium calculation was later identified.
Following the discovery, the Khans filed a refund application with the revenue authorities, which was approved earlier this week.
While Shah Rukh is believed to have paid over Rs 25 crore as premium, officials have yet to confirm the exact amount.
