KOTA: A 50-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly attacked his wife, a government school teacher, with acid on Saturday in Kota‘s Mahaveer Nagar area.
The woman suffered 50 person burns in the attack while her husband fled the spot.
As per the police, the accused, identified as Sunil Dixit (50), tied his wife Mamta Goud’s (45) hands and feet with a rope whilst she was asleep and poured acid on her.
The woman, posted in Swaimadhopur district, managed to free herself and contacted her brother, who sent a neighbour to her residence.
The neighbour, alongside others in the vicinity, broke open the door and took the woman to hospital.
The police later filed a case under section 124 (1), 127 (2), 79, 109 (1) of BNS Act, circle inspector, Mahaveer Nagar police station, Ramesh Kavia stated.
While the couple had divorced on mutual consent, they had been living in the same house, the police said.
The woman had arrived in Kota to attend a teachers’ meet on Friday and stayed at her residence with husband, they added.
Police said that the accused husband was caught from Bhansroadgarh in Chittorgarh district on Sunday night.
