Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration to be renamed in tribute to Manmohan Singh: CM Sukhu

NEW DELHI: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the 50th anniversary celebrations of Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration on Wednesday said that the institute would be renamed to honour former prime minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away on December 26 at the age of 92.
Manmohan Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. His political career ended earlier this year in April when he retired from Rajya Sabha.
CM Sukhu highlighted that Manmohan Singh’s policies were instrumental in advancing both India and Himachal Pradesh, bringing significant advantages and acknowledgement to the hill state.
During the event, the chief minister further launched a coffee-table book published by the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) and initiated a training programme for special educators, which would involve 80 teachers until January 3, according to news agency PTI.
The programme aims to provide teachers with contemporary techniques for teaching children with special needs, offering additional options alongside traditional Braille methods, he said.
CM Sukhu also congratulated the officials and employees of HIPA on the institute’s completion of 50 years, emphasizing that good governance is the core principle of the Congress government.
He further highlighted the importance of effective, technology-driven training programs for officials to achieve this goal. Sukhu also underscored HIPA’s vital role in delivering quality training to the state’s officials.
