'He should explain the allegation': Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on R Ashok's '60 per cent commission govt' remark

NEW DELHI: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Monday challenged Leader of Opposition (LoP) R Ashok to substantiate his corruption allegations against the Congress-led state government before making such claims.
Speaking to reporters about Ashok’s remarks regarding the Congress’ Belagavi convention, Siddaramaiah said, “Where have these irregularities occurred? Before making such allegations, he should explain that. Just because he makes the claim doesn’t mean it is true.”
The BJP leader R Ashok had labelled the Congress government as a “60 per cent commission government,” accusing it of corruption across departments and alleging that the funds were being diverted for the Congress’ rally in Belagavi.
“Congress govt is 60 per cent commission govt, in all sectors, all departments, they are taking 60 per cent commission… Muda scam of Rs 300 crores happened in Mysuru, Valmiki (scam), that included Rs 190 crores, that was a big scandal… where is all this money? It is being used for the Congress Samavesha, a big rally,” Ashok told ANI.
He also criticised the government’s performance, claiming a worsening law and order situation. “The Congress people looted the Karnataka government for the last 20 months. This is the worst government ever seen. And there is no law and order in Karnataka,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar dismissed reports of internal rifts within the Congress, affirming his focus on preserving the party and the government.
“My duty is to save the party and keep the government safe. Apart from this, I have no other duties. Don’t use my name for anything else. I have no disagreement with anyone,” Shivakumar said, adding, “Everyone is the same to me—activists, legislators, and ministers. I will bow down to those who work within the framework of our party’s discipline and serve them. Party is important to me.”
The ongoing Congress Samavesha in Belagavi has been a focal point for political discussions, with leaders addressing key organisational and governance issues.
