KOZHIKODE: The chilling audio messages exchanged between students involved in the brutal attack that claimed the life of Class X student Mohammed Shahabaz on social media show a lack of remorse even after he sustained injuries and later succumbed to them.
The clutch of messages exchanged by students before the attack also reveals that they mobilized themselves through social media messages, exhorting to take on the students from the other school following the altercation at a farewell party at a private tuition centre on Feb 23.
The highly disturbing voice clips shared over Instagram chat between the students of the group which attacked Shahabaz include the one in which a student is heard saying: “I had said one thing, that I would kill Shahbaz. As I have said… now go and look at his eyes… he doesn’t have any eyes”.
Another clip has a student describing the brutal assault without a trace of remorse over the injury sustained by the teen victim.
“You had said that Shahabaz would beat me. I didn’t even thrash him properly. What I did was… punch him in the eyes four times …and he was just like melting down. If I had beaten him up in full force, he would have died. We were just five and they (from the other school) were around 30,” the student was heard saying in the clip.
Also, in another clip a student is heard asking all those students in the group who were ‘manly’ to come and take on the students from the other school.
However, it has also emerged that the student who had led the attack sent a message to Shahabaz upon knowing that he has been hospitalised saying that he had not thought that things would take such a turn and asking him for forgiveness.
Some of the messages seemingly border on boasting and show a lack of awareness of the legal implications of the attack with one student saying that even if one is killed in a clash involving groups, it is not a major issue. He said police would not register a case while another student is seen supporting the argument by saying that the case would get dismissed as it was the other group which came to them to start off the clash.
