A Florida man was arrested for posting threatening messages against US President Donald Trump, reports The New York Post.
Law enforcement officials said that that 46-year old Shannon Depararro Atkins was arrested during During a traffic stop in West Palm Beach on Friday at approximately 7:30 pm and discovered cocaine in his possession.
“America needs one good bullet to be saved,” Atkins allegedly posted on Facebook on January 19, one day before Trump’s second term inauguration.
Later that same day, Atkins shared on Facebook that he had been removed from Elon Musk’s X platform.
“I’ve been banned from “X”, because I said I hope and pray someone kills him,” he wrote in an apparent reference to Trump. “History is supposed to repeat itself. We haven’t had an assassination in years.”
Later, he allegedly posted “Bullets please. Please Jesus! Save America” alongside a meme that referred to inauguration day as a “day of mourning.”
On Friday, he shared a meme showing the Trump alongside his deceased first wife Ivanka Trump, with the text “I hope they get back together soon.”
Electoral records indicate that Atkins has maintained Democratic Party affiliation in voting since at least 2008.
Currently detained at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Main Detention Center, Atkins faces charges including drug possession and one count of written or electronic threats to kill, cause bodily harm, or execute a mass shooting or terrorist act, classified as a second-degree felony.
