Guardians, drivers held for Gujarat students' stunts

SURAT: The Pal police in Surat on Thursday registered six FIRs and arrested six people in connection with an incident where a group of Class 12 students performed stunts and burst firecrackers while on their way to their school’s farewell event in a convoy of nearly 35 high-end cars on Dandi Road in the city.
In three of those cases, three guardians of three students face charges for allowing their wards to drive their cars. In the other three cases, three adult drivers were booked for rash and negligent driving by allowing students to perform stunts in their cars. In all the six FIRs, police are the complainants.
Dressed in blazers to mark their school’s last day, these students set off in luxury sedans, capturing videos. The video triggered outrage, with citizens taking police to task for not acting against them.
