'Government of education mafias': Protesting students call for Bihar bandh over BPSC exam row

NEW DELHI: Independent MP from Purnia Pappu Yadav called for a Bihar bandh, demanding the cancellation of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam.
The protesting students blocked roads and said that until the BPSC aspirants don’t get justice the demonstration will not stop.
The CCE conducted by the BPSC on December 13 has become a centre of the storm over allegations of question paper leak. Even as the government dismissed the allegation, a fresh test was ordered for more than 12,000 candidates who had appeared in the exam at a centre in Patna but the protest is still continuing.

“We have called a Bihar Bandh today under the leadership of Pappu Yadav and till the BPSC aspirants don’t get justice, we will not stop. These are children of India and are not Khalistanis or Pakistanis,” says a protesting student Nitin.

Another protester said, “The government running under Nitish Kumar is a government of education mafias. All examinations in Bihar are rigged, and settings are made. You must have seen the incident when a fire broke out in the medical college hostel, and bundles of notes were found there. Against this backdrop, BPSC students have been on hunger strike for almost 20 days. We call on all students and youth, and the entire state is supporting the Bihar Bandh. Shops, including Ashok and President’s, are closed. We thank all the shopkeepers for peacefully supporting the bandh by keeping their shops closed. Until this government bows down, Bihar will continue to rise like this…”

Earlier, On Saturday, Pappu Yadav announced his collaboration with Azad Party founder Chandrashekhar Azad and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi regarding the BPSC Preliminary Exam controversy. He declared their intention to disrupt House proceedings from March 21.
He indicated his willingness to travel across various cities on Sunday, if required, following his Bihar bandh call to support affected students and candidates in the state.
In his conversation with ANI, Yadav highlighted various irregularities in the BPSC examination and demanded a thorough investigation.
“Exams were conducted many times, weren’t they cancelled in the court?… Isn’t it an issue that the property of the people involved in this should be investigated? Isn’t it an issue that the cases against the students should be removed? Should the lathicharge be investigated or not?… Question papers were brought from Nawada to Gaya a day before, no jammer was installed, only 172 bundles out of 192 came…,” claimed Pappu Yadav.

“Tomorrow Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Party and other parties including Asaduddin Owaisi are going to work together on this and if needed, we will go to every city and will not let the House function from March 21…,” said Pappu Yadav.
