Goat killed, Telugu actor-MLA’s fans booked

TIRUPATI: Local police registered a case on five Nandamuri Balakrishna fans on charges of beheading a goat in full public glare ahead of the Daku Maharaj movie release.
After the video of the same went viral on various social media platforms, people for ethical treatment of animals (PETA) lodged a police complaint, seeking action against the accused involved.
According to information, goat was beheaded and killed outside a movie theatre near Tata nagar locality in Tirupati recently.
After slaughtering the goat, Balakrishna’s fans smeared the blood on the movie posters.
Following a complaint from PETA, Tirupati police booked a case against the five accused under sections 325 & 270, read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023; sections 4 & 5, read with 6 & 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifices (Prohibition) Act, 1950; and sections 3, 11(1)(a) and 11(1)(l) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
