Dwayne Wade, the NBA legend, has been in the news lately as he recently opened up about his cancer diagnosis. Back in January, Dwayne Wade had opened up about getting diagnosed with cancer in December 2023 on his podcast, “The Why With Dwyane Wade”. He revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer when he was on a normal routine check up. Recently, Dwayne Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union also opened up about how their family felt as Dwayne Wade had to undergo surgery.

In February, Dwayne Wade’s wife, famous Hollywood actress, Gabrielle Union spoke about his health on Access Hollywood. Gabrielle Union was at the New York City premiere of her recently released movie Riff Raff when she was asked about an update on Dwayne Wade’s health.
Gabrielle Union said, “He’s cancer free now. He was smart to delay talking about it diagnosis and his surgery for over a year to give us a little time to make peace with it and let all of our very intense fears dissipate a little bit, but he’s doing well.”
Gabrielle Union also spoke about how brave her husband has been through his cancer journey. She said, “He was brave enough to not only go through all the things he needed to do to take care of his health, but to share it with the world and save other people.”
Dwayne Wade’s cancer revelation had sent shockwaves among his fans. Recently, the NBA legend appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends where he opened up about how he was trying to deal with it emotionally.
Dwayne Wade spoke about how there has been an “image” of him being really strong and confident due to his successful NBA career. He added, “No one has ever really experienced me being weak…but this was a moment where I knew I was going to be uncertain and a little weak.”
However, everything worked out in Dwayne Wade’s favour as he is cancer free now. Dwayne Wade has revealed that a cyst was found on one of his kidneys and he had to get it surgically removed.
Currently, the NBA legend has one kidney and the other kidney is at 60 percent since 40 percent of it had to be surgically removed. But Dwayne Wade is completely fine and is doing pretty well and is now busy spreading awareness among his fans about his diagnosis and treatment.
