Gang-rape FIR filed against Haryana BJP president Badoli, singer Rocky Mittal in Kasauli

SHIMLA/CHANDIGARh: Haryana BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Jai Bhagwan, alias Rocky Mittal, allegedly got a woman drunk and took turns raping her in a Kasauli hotel room in July 2023, according to an FIR filed against them in the Himachal Pradesh hill station almost a year and a half later.
The FIR was registered on Dec 13, 2024, on the complaint of a woman who alleged that Badoli and Mittal gang-raped her on July 3, 2023, in a hotel room in Kasauli. The woman also alleged that Badoli had promised her a govt job in Haryana and Mittal had assured her a part in his music album.
Badoli who was busy in meetings, could not be reached on Tuesday, but he told a section of the media that he was a “victim of political conspiracy”.Mittal, the co-accused in the case, admitted to being present in Kasauli on the day of the crime but claimed that he was being dragged into the case due to internal rivalry among BJP leaders in Sonipat district. Mittal claimed that he had come to know about the case through the media on Tuesday. “Not even a single cop or any investigation agency contacted me before that. Now, I request PM Modi to order a CBI probe into the case,” he added, and sought a narco test on all those directly or indirectly linked to the case.
The complainant told police that she had reached Kasauli along with her two friends on July 3, 2023, and stayed at a hotel. The survivor said that she and her female friend met the two accused on the same day. She alleged that they took them to their hotel room and forcibly made them to drink alcohol. Then, they took turns to rape her and took her obscene photos and videos in her friend’s presence. The complainant also accused the duo of threatening her and her friend, claiming to be influential persons who would make them “disappear if they told anyone” [about the occurrence] or informed the police.
“We did not tell anyone about this incident out of fear and shame. About two months ago, they threatened us again and called us to Panchkula, where they tried to file a false case against us, and to trap us,” complainant further alleged.
Reacting to the controversy, Haryana PCC chief Udai Bhan said it was about time PM Modi, home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda broke their silence on the allegations against a senior party functionary.
