The woman’s brother Lalchand accused her live-in partner Girija Shankar of murder and filed a complaint at SGPGI Police Station. Additional DCP, east zone, Pankaj Singh, said the postmortem report revealed multiple injuries on her body which caused her death. “We are probing whether these injuries are accidental or if she was murdered brutally,” said Singh.
Police said Geeta Sharma, who hailed from Rae Bareli, lived in a housing society in the PGI area and worked as a property dealer. Lalchand claimed Girija misled him saying that Geeta had met with an accident and was hospitalised.
Lalchand said Geeta had a Rs 1 crore insurance policy with Girija Shankar as the nominee, adding that it could be the reason for her murder.
