Five Nepalese returning from Maha Kumbh killed as SUV flips trying to save biker

NEW DELHI: Five people from Nepal, including three women, died on Saturday when their SUV overturned in Bihar while returning from the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, police said.
The accident happened in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar when the speeding SUV flipped multiple times while trying to avoid a motorcycle and took a sharp turn. There were nine people in the car.
“According to eyewitnesses, the driver took a sharp turn, trying to avoid hitting a motorcycle.All the occupants belonged to the Mahottari district of Nepal,” deputy superintendent of Police Vineeta Sinha was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
“While five persons, three of them women, died on the spot, the remaining four were seriously injured and have been referred to a hospital in Patna,” she added.
The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Mantarni Devi, 30-year-old Archana Thakur, 60-year-old Balkrishna Jha, 55-year-old Indu Devi, and the vehicle’s driver, whose name has not yet been disclosed, as per a report by The Kathmandu Post.
