This latest claim, detailed in a scathing response to Musk’s public statements, has reignited media scrutiny and public debate over their contentious relationship.
Elon Musk had so far remained largely silent on the paternity issue until recently, when he addressed the situation on Twitter in response to a post by far-right activist Laura Loomer. In a Twitter post on March 31, Elon Musk wrote, “I don’t know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed. Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year.”
This statement came shortly after Ashley Clair publicly sold her Tesla Model S, claiming she needed the funds to offset a 60% cut in child support from Musk. The sale, captured on video and amplified by Loomer, added fuel to the narrative of financial hardship.
Ashley Clair angrily responded to the same. Replying to Musk’s Twitter post, she accused Musk of refusing a paternity test she had requested before the child’s birth, contradicting his claim of openness to establishing paternity. “Elon, we asked you to confirm paternity through a test before our child (who you named) was even born. You refused,” she wrote.
She further alleged that the financial support Musk touted was not for her but for their son, and that he had “withdrawn most of it to maintain control and punish me for ‘disobedience.’” St. Clair asserted that this reduction directly harmed their child, stating, “You’re really only punishing your son.” She added, “It’s ironic that your last effort in court was to try to gag me while you use a social media channel you literally own to distribute derogatory messages about me and our child to the entire world. It’s all about control with you, and everyone can see it.”

Incidentally, the controversy began on Valentine’s Day (February 14) this year, when 26-year-old author Ashley Clair announced on Twitter that she had given birth to a child fathered by Musk in September 2024. She claimed that she had kept the matter private to protect the child’s safety but felt compelled to go public due to impending tabloid exposure. Since then, the situation has spiraled into a legal and personal battle, with Ashley Clair filing for sole custody of the child, identified in court documents as R.S.C., and Musk’s involvement — or lack thereof — coming under intense scrutiny.
Ashley Clair’s initial claims painted Musk as an absentee father who had only met their son three times and had no significant role in his upbringing. Her legal team further accused Musk of reducing financial support “substantially and unilaterally” after she took the matter to court, a move they described as retaliatory.
