Sam Altman snubs Elon Musk, calls him wrong: Why two tech bros are fighting over Stargate
Sam Altman and Elon Musk are slugging it out on X over Donald Trump’s Stargate Project.

Elon Musk and Sam Altman had a public fallout as Elon Musk nuked Donald Trump’s $500 billion AI project claiming that OpenAI does not have the kind of money to carry out the Stargate Project. Sam Altman countered Elon Musk’s claim and asked him to visit the first site already under way.
“Wrong, as you surely know. Want to come visit the first site already under way? This is great for the country. I realize what is great for the country isn’t always what’s optimal for your companies, but in your new role I hope you’ll mostly put America first,” Sam Altman said.

What is the Stargate Project?
OpenAI announced that the Stargate Project is a new company which intends to invest $500 billion over the next four years building new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States. SoftBank and OpenAI are the lead partners in this new project.
“They don’t actually have the money,” Elon Musk said. “SoftBank has well under $10B secured. I have that on good authority,” Musk added.
Sam Altman initially took Elon Musk’s attack lightly and wrote: “I genuinely respect your accomplishments and think you are the most inspiring entrepreneur of our time”. But then he too sharpened his attack and said Musk in his new role as the chief of the Department of Government Efficiency should put America first.
Altman and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison were in the Roosevelt Room at the White House on Tuesday to announce the “Stargate” deal they promised would create more than 100,000 American jobs and even use artificial intelligence to find cures for cancer.
Elon Musk and Sam Altman cofounded OpenAI in 2015 but Musk left OpenAI three years later and since then they have been taking potshots at each other. Sam Altman called Elon Musk a bully while Musk called Altman “swindly Sam”.
