Elon Musk shares chat screenshot with gamer in fight over “Path of Exile 2” ranking

Elon Musk has publicly sparred with popular Twitch streamer Zack “Asmongold” following allegations that the Tesla CEO may not be playing Path of Exile 2 himself. In response, Musk has publicly shared private messages exchanged with Asmongold on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), seemingly in an attempt to refute the allegations and publicly address the controversy.

What is the case all about and Elon Musk’s response

Asmongold, along with other prominent streamers and gamers, has questioned Musk’s in-game performance, raising concerns about the possibility of account boosting or other forms of assistance. Following a live stream where Musk showcased his in-game character, several prominent gamers, including Asmongold, questioned his gameplay skills and raised concerns about potential assistance.
“There is no way he played that account. I’m sorry. I think he bought the account or somebody played it for him a hundred f**king percent,” said the member of the One True King group in one stream with followers also raising questions on Musk gaming abilities.
Critics pointed to inconsistencies in Musk’s gameplay, suggesting he may not have achieved his high-level character through his own skill alone.
In response, Musk attacked Asmond via a post on X which he later deleted.
“Asmon behaves like a maverick ‘independent’, but in reality has to ask his boss for permission before he can do anything. He is not his own man,” Musk posted in a series of tweets that included a screenshot of the DM between the two.

Musk post gets ‘Community Notes-checked’

Musk’s posts were slapped with Community Notes for spreading disinformation.
“Elon Musk seems to think Asmongold is an employee with editors overseeing him. That’s incorrect. Asmongold’s ‘editors’ are actually his employees—they edit/upload his content for a revenue share. They don’t control what he does,” one of the notes said.
According to a report by news agency AFP, the billionaire unfollowed Asmongold on X, and soon the streamer lost his blue checkmark. When The Times of India checked, the blue tick is back on the streamer’s X account.
