Former first lady Melania Trump is unfazed by Elon Musk’s frequent visits to the Trump estate in Palm Beach, The People reports, citing sources close to the family.
The former first lady, who has been notably calm about the tech billionaire’s presence at Mar-a-Lago, views his relationship with her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, in a positive light.
Musk, named co-leader of Donald’s proposed department of government efficiency (DOGE), has spent considerable time with the president-elect since the election. Despite his constant presence, Melania is reportedly unbothered by his involvement.
“Melania is glad to have a babysitter for Donald, and she will find some kind of project to team up with him herself if he stays around,” a Palm Beach source tells the People. The source also noted that Melania is accustomed to making the best of situations beyond her control.
“She has her own life and isn’t bothered by political dealings her husband has with others,” the source added. “But so far, she has no issues with Musk.”
Melania stays detached from her husband’s political matters, even when Mar-a-Lago is used for his discussions. A social source confirms that she usually avoids the talks Trump has with Musk or others at the estate.
“Melania is in good spirits and does her own thing, and is not bothered one way or the other by Musk hanging around,” the social source explains. “For the most part, she is not involved with subjects her husband is discussing with Musk or anyone else hanging around him. Right now, Trump has a lot of people wanting things from him. She is all too aware of that.”
Donald has used their Palm Beach property as a base for political meetings, both for his 2024 campaign and his presidential transition. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported that Musk has been at Mar-a-Lago nearly every day since the election, engaging in golf, dining, sitting in on calls with world leaders, and offering input on White House staffing decisions. Musk also spent New Year’s Eve with the Trumps.
“Melania is glad to have her husband busy with his work,” a Palm Beach political source said. “And so far, Musk is part of that mindset.”
