Elon Musk has once again expressed his strong support for Greenland joining the United States, welcoming the idea with open arms as Donald Trump’s son, Don Jr., touched down on the island on Tuesday.
Musk voiced his opinion on the potential future of Greenland, stressing that they would be “most welcome” if they wished to become part of the US.
Musk took to his X account and wrote, “If the people of Greenland want to be part of America, which I hope they do, they would be most welcome!”
This comes as Donald Trump’s son and several representatives arrived in Greenland to explore the possibility of the island joining the United States. The move is one that Trump has repeatedly pursued, even suggesting the purchase of Greenland from Denmark last month. Greenland, the world’s largest island, is an autonomous region of the Kingdom of Denmark, and its future has been a topic of tension between the US and Denmark.
On Monday, Trump said: “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA.’ My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be travelling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights. Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation.”
Trump continued with his trademark slogan, “We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”. His comments reflect his previous efforts to push for the territory, which he considers important for national security.
After Don Jr and his representatives landed, the reception in Greenland appeared positive. Posting on Truth Social, Donald Trump wrote: “Don Jr. and my Reps landing in Greenland. The reception has been great. They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength, and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen. MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
Don Jr was pictured with Greenlandic locals, wearing MAGA caps, highlighting his father’s vision for the island’s future.
Taking to X, Don Jr shared his excitement, writing: “Greenland is beautiful!!!”, showing his appreciation for the cold yet serene island, one of the world’s most unique and remote tourist destinations.
According to The Hill, Don Jr’s visit will be “for a quick daylong trip to shoot some fun video content for podcasting.” The visit will not include any meetings with government officials or political figures.
In a separate post on Monday, following Justin Trudeau’s resignation as Prime Minister in Canada, Donald Trump reiterated his idea of acquiring the “51st state”.
He invited Canada to merge with the United States, claiming, “There would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese ships that are constantly surrounding them.”
“Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State. The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat. Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
