Elon Musk has been badgering Donald Trump’s team to give him a badge allowing him access to the White House complex. A New York Times report said it was given to him and as soon as Donald Trump was inaugurated Elon Musk started working from the White House Monday. The report said that he filled out paperwork to be brought on board for the role and already has a government email address.
Earlier, it was decided that Elon Musk would have an office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building which is in the White House complex but not in the West Wing proper. He has been asking the Trump team about his level of access as he wanted to be in close proximity with Trump.
Where is DOGE’s office?
Elon Musk’s DOGE team, according to the report, has largely spent the past two months at SpaceX’s offices. They will be spread across the federal government studying the excesses as of now. Some of these employees carry navy blue mesh baseball caps in all-white capital letters reading ‘DOGE’. Apart from this, the work of this agency has been shrouded in secrecy.
DOGE faces lawsuit as soon as Trump is inaugurated
A public interest law firm, National Security Counselors, filed a lawsuit against DOGE on Monday claiming that DOGE is violating the Federal Advisory Committee Act, or FACA.
“The question every American should be asking is ‘What are they hiding?'” Skye Perryman, CEO of Democracy Forward, a legal organization representing the plaintiffs, said in a statement. “DOGE must not be allowed to operate in the shadows without the transparency, oversight, and opportunity for public participation required of any federal department by the law.”
The lawsuit claimed that DOGE has not employed a single member of federal employee though DOGE intends to provide recommendations regarding federal employment practices.
The lawsuit came as Vivek Ramaswamy quit the agency and is all set to announce his bid for Ohio governor.
