Eight security personnel, vehicle driver killed in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bastar

BIJAPUR: At least eight security personnel and one vehicle driver were killed in a major IED blast triggered by Maoists on a police vehicle in Bijapur district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on Monday.
The incident took place at Kutru region, located about 80 kms from district headquarters around 2.30pm in Kutru-Bedre route.
According to reliable sources, at least seven personnel were killed in the blast and few others were injured. They indicated that the number of casualties of jawans might increase.
The region has been cordoned off for the public from the site of the incident.
Bastar range inspector general of police P Sundarraj has confirmed that a police vehicle was blown up in an IED blast stating that further details were awaited.
