JHUNJHUNU: In a horrific incident that has shocked the local community, a man allegedly murdered his nearly 5-month-old twin daughters in Neem Ka Thana town of Sikar district, driven by his desperate desire for a son. The accused, Ashok Kumar, was arrested Friday by local police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Roshan Kumar said the crime was committed Thursday afternoon when Kumar, a resident of Ward 30, violently threw his twin daughters, Nidhi and Navya, to the floor, causing fatal injuries. Later that night, he attempted to conceal his crime by burying their bodies in a pit.
The victims’ mother, Anita, reported to police that the incident occurred between 2:30pm and 3pm, following a household dispute that had begun earlier that morning. The twins, born on Nov 4, 2024, had been taken for vaccination earlier that day. Anita, who has a five-year-old daughter also, lost consciousness during the assault. The injured infants were rushed to Neem Ka Thana hospital, where they were pronounced dead by the doctors.
In her police statement, Anita revealed a history of harassment from Kumar and his family for not bearing a son. The crime came to light when Anita’s brother, Sunil Yadav, alerted the police authorities.
A police team led by IPS officer Roshan Meena, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, recovered the bodies from the burial site. Following a post-mortem examination conducted by a medical board, the remains were returned to the family.
