An era created by sheer commitment to work and dedicated to build and preserve a legacy of media monuments and later impart wisdom to more in media fraternity has come to an end with the passing of Dr. Bhaskar Das. His era will continue to inspire generations to come.
As a charismatic leader, Dr. Das had the unique ability to influence everyone around him.

His infectious smile, charming personality, and unwavering optimism made him a beloved figure in the industry. He belonged to that rare breed of professionals who elevated the media space selling to a science, imparting dignity and credibility to the profession serving as role model that many like us would always love to follow.
I had the privilege of working with Dr. Das during my stint as Senior Manager, Response, at The Times of India and later as General Manager Response when he took over as Director, Response. In his first address to us with his characteristic aplomb, he said, “The shoes I’m stepping into are big, but I’ll try to fit in and lead with aplomb.”
Lead he did, with remarkable strategic vision, impeccable execution, and a unique ability to mentor and inspire his team.
Dr. Das was an astute observer of changes in the industry and had an uncanny ability to predict trends. He was the driving force behind the growth of the Times of India and his contributions to the media industry ate immeasurable.
Years later, when I came back post my media stint abroad after a decade and a half, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Das again, this time at Zee Media Corporation Ltd. (ZMCL), where he was the Group CEO. Even at 65+, Dr. Das would step out for meetings, close sales, and add value to his team with the same energy and enthusiasm that he had in his younger days.
His mantra once spelled was profound: “The real test is not merely be good in strategy, but success lies in smart implementation.” He would often say, “A media salesman’s smile can judged by his win and closure. If his smile falters, you need to know he is not roughed out enough to deliver.” This and many more where observations he would make setting BD standard quality control measures for his team.
Dr. Bhaskar Das may be gone, but his spirit will continue to live on through the thousands of professionals he
mentored, guided, and inspired throughout his illustrious career. We will strive to emulate his example, albeit not near to his standard of perfection but surely as a tribute to his memory.
As we bid adieu to this remarkable individual, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to shape the media industry for generations to come. Rest in peace, Dr. Bhaskar Das Sir. Your memory will be a blessing to us all.
