The hours in the run-up to Donald Trump’s inauguration witnessed many memorable meet and greet and one of them was a limo ride that Donald Trump shared with Joe Biden from the White House to the Capitol where the event followed. Four years ago, when Biden was inaugurated, Donald Trump did not attend the event, skipped all hospitalities but Biden told Donald Trump ‘Welcome home’ as he greeted Trump at the White House.
White House and Capitol are not far away but the limo ride was awkward after the bitterly fought election from which Joe Biden had to bow out in favor of Kamala Harris.
Biden confirmed that he maintained the presidential tradition of leaving a letter for the successor — a tradition that even Trump did not break. Biden never revealed what Trump wrote to him and neither did he reveal what he wrote for Trump. “That’s between Trump and me,” Biden said.
As the video of their limo ride surfaced, a social media user wrote that it was so relatable that Trump immediately pulled his phone out the moment he was alone with Joe Biden and Amy Klobuchar.
“Can’t stop laughing about Trump and Biden making small talk in that car with nobody other than Amy Klobuchar in there,” one said.
“I guess Amy Klobuchar had to translate Biden’s mumbles to Trump. All three of them stepped out of the White House together to get in the beast,” another wrote.
Social media users asked why Amy Klobuchar was there throughout and why she was so important that she was even present at the limo ride. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) is chairwoman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, which oversees planning of today’s event. Hence she was so important in today’s proceedings and she welcomed everyone to Rotunda. This is Klobuchar’s first time heading the inaugural committee. The role was held for a long time by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), who retired after the 2022 elections.
