Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk made waves on Monday with a bold statement about the 2024 US presidential election, claiming the outcome would have been disastrous if Donald Trump hadn’t won.
“Had this election not been won by Donald Trump, civilisation would be lost,” Musk said. The remark, later shared by Trump on his Truth Social account, underscores Musk’s strong support for the Republican leader.
Musk, known for his outspoken nature, has long been an advocate for Trump and his party’s “Make America Great Again” slogan. In October, he even appeared dressed as “Dark MAGA” during a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, solidifying his allegiance to the former President.
The tech mogul and founder of Tesla and SpaceX has also been appointed to lead the newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), alongside Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. The department, created by Trump, aims to slash wasteful government spending and cut excessive regulations by 4 July 2026, the 250th anniversary of US independence.
Musk hasn’t held back from criticising the opposition. Before the election, he called President Joe Biden a “criminal” and America’s “garbage” on his X account.
In October, he took to X and said, “If the Kamala regime wins, they will stifle progress. It is in their nature, and they cannot help but do what is in their nature.” Musk has also repeatedly criticised Kamala Harris, accusing her of mismanaging immigration issues.
Musk also joked about Biden, saying, “No one is even trying to assassinate Joe Biden,” while pointing out alleged assassination attempts on Trump. He later deleted the post.
Musk’s latest comments have sparked debate, highlighting his strong support for Trump and readiness to voice controversial opinions.
