Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts made headlines recently as the superstar duo were left out of the Opening Day lineup of the Tokyo Series. There were serious concerns regarding their health, which led the two to opt out from the game. Recently, a Dodgers doctor shed light on Betts and Freeman’s health status, in regards to their Tokyo Series absence.

Neal ElAttrache sheds light on Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman’s Tokyo Series exit

Earlier this week, Neal ElAttrache, who has been working as a team doctor for the Dodgers, was interviewed by the LA Times. During a conversation with the publication, ElAttrache talked about the reason behind Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman’s absence from the Opening Day roster and said:
“Dehydration is one of the worst conditions you can have for muscle strains. You have Mookie come out here, tear an oblique or hamstring; you can lose him for six weeks. This time of the year is the worst time to take a chance. If you’re wrong and too aggressive with it … they lose six or eight weeks.”
Following ElAttrache’s statement, Mookie Betts made an appearance on the “Baseball is Dead,” to talk about his learning from the Boston Red Sox. Listing out all the things he learned during his time at the franchise, Betts said:
“In Boston, I was in a different place in life. I didn’t have any kids, I was this young kid coming up, I had Big Papi (David Ortiz), (Dustin) Pedroia, Mike Napoli, Jonny Gomes. … That was kind of the way in Boston: you keep your head down, you stay focused, and you do your job,”

Moving forward in his statement, he further added:
“I’m very, very thankful for that because it taught me to work. It taught me to stay focused on the task at hand. As I’ve gotten older, and now that I have more years behind me than I have in front of me, you have to set up the next part of life… I feel like God has blessed me with the ability to have a podcast, be an entrepreneur.”
Mookie Betts’ wife Brianna recently made headlines cheering for the Dodgers star at the Tokyo Dome.
