PUNE: Delhi residents have rejected AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal‘s “false promises”, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said Saturday while hailing BJP’s return to office in the national capital. Fadnavis credited BJP’s ‘Ek hain toh safe hain’ campaign for its success, saying Maharashtra already embraced the concept during the state elections.
“PM Narendra Modi came to Maharashtra and emphasised how we were getting divided on caste lines, which was giving power to elements trying to spread anarchy,” Fadnavis said.

“Modi’s call for unity resonated with voters in Maharashtra and now in Delhi. The entire country is realising the importance of unity.”
On Maharashtra’s Lok Sabha results, Fadnavis alleged “vote jihad” led to BJP losing 12 seats. However, he asserted the party’s assembly polls strategy helped secure a decisive victory. Fadnavis also criticised Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray over his claim that BJP had promised him a shared CM tenure in 2019.
Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, meanwhile, took a swipe at Congress, predicting it would blame EVMs for its defeat in Delhi. He challenged Rahul Gandhi to contest against him in the 2029 elections from Kamthi in Vidarbha region, a BJP stronghold.
