‘Delhi’s got latent’ vs ‘BJP’s got latent’: AAP, BJP trade barbs in parody face-off

'Delhi's got latent' vs 'BJP’s got latent': AAP, BJP trade barbs in parody face-off

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday released a satirical parody video titled ‘BJP’s Got Latent’, taking aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.
This video came as a response to BJP’s parody video ‘Delhi’s got latent’ which featured former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Both videos draw inspiration from Samay Raina’s well-known YouTube programme, “India’s Got Latent,” where individuals from diverse backgrounds showcase their hidden talents, often surprising audiences with unexpected performances.
The Aam Aadmi Party video featured bits and pieces of various BJP leaders’ statements, including footage of BJP leader Parvesh Verma berating an officer whilst inspecting Yamuna ghats during last year’s Chhath festival.
The video also highlighted controversial comments made by BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri towards then BSP MP Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha.
“Hello, and welcome to BJP’s Got Latent. Here, there are unnecessary and useless people whose presence in Delhi makes no difference… Just like BJP in Delhi,” the narration in the video said.

“It’s a wild show. In this show, some BJP members will come to showcase their talent. They will have only 90 seconds to display their talent. So sit tight and watch BJP’s Got Latent,” it added.
Meanwhile, the BJP’s production ‘Delhi’s got latent’ portrayed AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal as an animated contestant.
“Main Delhi ko London Paris bana dunga, saaf hawa paani ke liye tarsa dunga. Gaali gaali mein paani aur koode bhar dunga, sharab ki ek bottle par ek free kara dunga! I will turn Delhi into London and Paris, but I will make you yearn for clean air and water. I will fill every street with water and garbage, and offer one free bottle with every bottle of alcohol!” animated Kejriwal said.

To this, Samay Raina responds with a smirk “Aap kabhi serious ho paate ho? Are you ever able to be serious?” to which the animated Kejriwal quips, “Ki koshish karta hoon main, par log nahi lete.”
The latest campaign strategy is followed after political rivalry between the AAP and the BJP has escalated through a series of pointed poster campaigns ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.
The Delhi assembly elections will take place in a single phase on February 5, with the vote counting scheduled for February 8.
