Delhi mandate to bring a govt that serves its people: Nirmala Sitharaman

NEW DELHI: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said the poll verdict in Delhi will help its citizens get a govt that serves their interests.
“…(I am) happy to know that because under Modi’s leadership, we are very keen that Delhi gets a govt which serves its people. And that’s something which is the need of the hour for attaining ‘Viksit Bharat 2047‘.

India’s NCT should have a govt that serves the cause of its people,” she told reporters after her customary post-budget address to the RBI board.
“And I strongly believe that the road map that the PM has set for the country should certainly take Delhi on the top priority and serve its people from every point of view, for all the Human Development Indicator-related issues and also the fundamental infrastructure, schools, hospitals, people’s healthcare, and the capital worth India’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ aspirations,” Sitharaman said.
Days before the Delhi polls, Sitharaman had announced a Rs 1 lakh crore income tax relief for the middle class, including a rebate for those earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually, a move that was seen to be aimed at the middle class.
